Amos Ogbonnaya, former aide to Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State has sued his erstwhile boss for wrongful termination of his appointment.

The former coordinator of Anuagata Development Centre in Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state is asking the National Industrial Court of Nigeria in Enugu to direct the governor to pay him N500 million for wrongful dismissal.

Ogbonnaya had earlier sued the governor in March 2019 in which he asked the court to order Umahi and his government to pay him over N20 million, representing his allowances, security vote, and other withheld entitlements.

In the latest suit marked NICN/EN/08/2021 and filed on 01/04/2021, Ogbonnaya listed the state’s Attorney-General and Justice Commissioner, Cletus N. Ofoke, and the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on   Rural Development, Enekwachi Akpa, as the co-defendants.

Meanwhile, the Defence Minister, Magashi Bashir, has stated that Federal Government will soon begin the recruitment process of officers and soldiers to tackle Boko Haram insurgency and banditry.

Magashi stated this while speaking at the headquarters of the Theatre Command in Maiduguri when he led The Chief of Defense Staff, General Lucky Irabor, and other service chiefs on an operational visit.

Addressing troops, the Defence Minister said the move to recruit more soldiers is part of the government’s strategy to meet up manpower shortfalls.

According to him, they decided to visit the Theatre Command to assess the fighting spirit of the troops of operation Lafiya Dole and also to motivate them.
