Manchester United’s David De Gea injury update

Manchester United has provided an injury update on goalkeeper David De Gea.

The keeper crashed into a post as he tried, in vain, to save James Ward-Prowse’s free-kick which sent the hosts 2-0 up.

The Spaniard was replaced by Dean Henderson in the second half of their game against Southampton on Sunday and according to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as quoted by the club’s website, the player will have a scan on Monday.

“A knock just above the knee, so hopefully he’ll be okay for Wednesday, but we don’t know. Let’s have a little scan or check tomorrow (Monday), but Dean came on and looked very assured,” Solskjaer said.

It was the keeper’s 500th club appearance, his 416th for United following this after featuring for 84 games in Atletico Madrid colours.

United face PSG on Wednesday with a point enough to secure their place in the next round of the competition and apart from De Gea, the English giants are worried about the fitness of left-back Alex Telles who came off for Brandon Williams in the closing stages of the Sunday game.
