Women have been encouraged to become motivated, to take care of their physical, mental well-being as well as their loved ones, as this would promote peace in society.
The Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Poverty alleviation, Hon. Cecilia Bolaji Dada, speaking at the Women’s Assembly held at two locations for 10 local government areas and local council development areas. , said that it is only when women are strong and healthy that they can take care of their loved ones.
Her words: “Our mental wellness is very important. A lot of women now suffer depression due to the challenges they are facing at the home front. Take care of your health, observe personal hygiene, go for medical checkups, and go for bodily exercise, which will help to rid your body of fats,” she advised.
Dada also enjoined women to create time for family bonding and avoid being an absentee mother.
While lamenting that reports have shown that most husbands are abusing their daughters who are not able to speak out, Mrs. Dada charged women to speak out, so that perpetrators can be brought to book.
Chairman, Orile Agege LCDA, Hon. Sunday Babatunde urged women not to shy away from their responsibilities. “They should know that they are the bedrock of the society. If our family are disciplined, the society and the nation will be a better place.”
The first Forum was held for women at Orile Agege LCDA for women at Ifako/Ijaye, Ojokoro, Orile Agege LCDAs and Agege LGA.
At the Alimosho forum held at Alimosho LGA, Ayobo/Ipaja, Agbado/Oke Odo, Igando-Ikotun, Mosan Okunola Egbe Idimu, the Chairman Alimosho LGA, Hon. Adewale Sulaiman commended Lagos State for the initiative.
