READ JEREMIAH 33:1 THROUGH 35:19
Melissa smiled as she held her infant son in her arms, experiencing joy for the first time since her parents died six months ago.
In the dark days of their death, Melissa struggled to believe in the goodness and grace of God. She challenged His strategy, His nature, and His very life.
But as she stared into the eyes of her son, she could almost audibly hear the Holy Spirit speaking to her the words she had read from the Book of Jeremiah.
“There will be heard once more the sounds of joy and gladness . . . saying, ‘Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; his love endures forever.’ For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were before, says the Lord” (Jeremiah 33:10–11).
If God is able to restore the fortunes of Judah after the country has been torn apart by war, exile, and imprisonment, He will restore the fortunes of Christians today from any sorrow, pain, or suffering they encounter.
Prayer Suggestion: God, help me find my joy in You, not in my circumstances. Help me to trust Your goodness, to know that at the end of the day you will work all things for the benefit of those who love You.
